Runa Islam, born on December 10, 1970, in Dhaka, East Bengal (now Bangladesh), is a distinguished British visual artist and filmmaker renowned for her profound and evocative film works. Islam's journey from Dhaka to becoming a pivotal figure in contemporary art is marked by her early relocation to London at the age of three, a move that set the stage for her future explorations in art and film. Her educational path led her to the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam from 1997 to 1998, a period that was crucial for her artistic development.
